Junior Fullstack TypeScript Developer

About the role

We're a product-focused software company shipping SaaS and custom platforms used by real customers. We're hiring a Junior Fullstack TypeScript Developer to work across our stack, writing React/Next.js on the frontend and Node-based APIs on the backend. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on production code from week one. This is the right role for someone who has been teaching themselves to build software and is ready to do it as a job.

What you'll do

• Ship features end-to-end across frontend and backend using TypeScript
• Build UI in React/Next.js that is responsive, accessible, and matches design
• Write and consume REST APIs and integrate with PostgreSQL databases
• Read existing code in our products and extend it safely
• Open clean pull requests, respond to code review, and iterate quickly
• Test what you ship and fix what you break

What we need from you

• You can build a non-trivial fullstack app on your own: frontend, backend, database, deployed somewhere we can click
• Comfortable writing TypeScript (or strong JavaScript + willing to go all-in on TypeScript)
• Working knowledge of React; bonus if you've used Next.js
• Understand HTTP, REST, and basic relational database concepts (SELECT, JOIN, indexes)
• Comfortable with Git: branches, commits, pull requests
• Can read documentation and figure things out without being hand-held
• Communicate clearly in English, in writing and in person
• Based in Addis Ababa or willing to relocate

Nice to have

• Public code we can look at: GitHub, a personal project, a deployed side project
• Experience with Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, or similar component systems
• Exposure to PostgreSQL, Prisma, Drizzle, or any ORM
• Any experience with cloud deployment (Vercel, Railway, AWS, etc.)
• Familiarity with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) and how to use them well
